Workshop: Working With The 'Special Educational Needs' Children At Home

As schools and therapy centres were under complete lockdown the whole of last year, children with Specific Learning Difficulties  (Dislexia, Discalculia, ADD, ADHD) suffered a huge blow to their learnig curve. SEN expert Sreepriya Bhowmick will share concepts, ideas and strategies that parents and teachers can use to ensure continuous learning and development this academic year for children with mild to moderate to severe SpLD.

Sreepriya is the founder director of British Education Support Services, an organization that aims at providing Multidisciplinary approach to the Assessment and Intervention for children with Special Educational Needs. BESS provides support to institutions, families and Individuals by providing them with initial advice, assessment, training for parents and teachers, developing the programme of work, promoting awareness, helping them access their rights and avail various services.

Sreepriya has been working in the field of special needs since 1996 and has been in the UK since 2003. She started her career in UK with the National Autistic Society and since then has worked in both state and independent sectors as head of special needs department. Her experience has been in both mainstream and special schools and across all age groups.

Her experience as a teacher and as a SENCO has been equally successful. After gaining experience as a Specialist teacher, she successfully built and led the SEN department with various schools and Education Groups working with the International Students in UK.  While working as the Head of Special Needs, she successfully led institutes to glorious Ofsted and ISI reports. In all these years, she has gained experience of carrying diagnostic assessments, providing interventions and working with individuals from various nationalities like-Germany, France, Russia, Middle East, China and East Europe for Special Educational Needs and organizing their Access Arrangement. She has been responsible for establishing the SEN policy, carrying out regular SEN and Health and safety audit, organizing and carrying out the initial screening assessment for all the students in various institutions. She conducts regular training sessions for parents and professionals across UK.
